On November 22, 1963, three shots rang out in Dallas, President Kennedy died, and the world changed. What if you could change it back? Stephen King’s heart-stoppingly dramatic new novel is about a man who travels back in time to prevent the JFK assassination—a thousand page tour de force.

Following his massively successful novel Under the Dome, King sweeps readers back in time to another moment—a real life moment—when everything went wrong: the JFK assassination. And he introduces readers to a character who has the power to change the course of history.

  • If You Could Change History, Would You? Should You? Stephen King's '11/22/63'

“How many books have been written about the chain of events leading up to that day in Dallas?” wonders Jake Epping, narrator of Stephen King’s 11/22/63. “A hundred? Three hundred? Probably closer to a thousand.” Undeterred, King has written a big, pa ... (read full critics)

As I write this, it is the 48th anniversary of the assassination of John F. Kennedy, and I have just finished reading Stephen King’s new novel about a man who goes back in time to try to stop Lee Harvey Oswald from firing the three bullets that would ... (read full critics)

    The Master overdoes himself again.
Awesome story, touching, entertaining, thrilling, surprising... also, for the old-time fans, he manages to beep-beep Richie. A small but great cameo.
    Really amazing.

Good story, but could have had 10% - 20% edited down to make the story tighter and it would have been better

A book worth reading, both for the good amount of historical details on Kennedy's assassination and the clever plot - not to mention the fluent and intriguing writing style of Stephen King.

For once, we also have a good ending, perhaps a little bit too rushed, but all in all quite harmonic with the rest of the book, consistent, and also romantic enough to leave the reader with a half smile for the complex, time-traveling life of Jake Epping.

  • Took the length of The Stand and the idea from a zillion things already done, including his own The Dead Zone, and made a book out of it. I have to come to terms with the fact I will never understand why people read this author.

  • Not King's best but a very likable book. A little clumsy ending IMO but a very nice read overall. I love the story, the characters and enjoyed reading it. However I wish the ending was a bit more powerful. I somehow knew what was going to happen somewhere around page 100. Anyway loved it and recomme ... (continue)

Probably a writer is a better teacher than a scientist ! Eventually a writer is the medium in which the ideas propagate fastly through society and in this case the idea/concept is one of the most advanced one "string theory and multiverses".

In the book Harmonic waves are spreading up and down the continuum due to the butterfly effect and the hero understands it fully only at the end.

The best part of this book is the way Maestro King manages to bring the reader into the late 50' s years
