It is no secret that I have highly ambivalent feelings about the works of Stephenie Meyer. Perhaps it is because I was the independent and headstrong girl who got involved with a psychopathic control-freak and was nearly destroyed by his madness. Mor ... (read full critics)

As with every other SM book, I finished it in one day, painful as it was. The book itself is written in a much better way than Eclipse, which was an unbearable read with all those useless and endless conversations, Jacob acting like a jerk and Bella being the most annoying female on the planet! BD actually narrates the events and that's good. The problem is that said events are... uneventful!! Everything is so dull and boring and simple and predictable... you almost see the Teletubbies in the far corner of the setting smiling and waving, saying it'll be alright! Not even something "gruesome" as Bella's pregnancy (as far fetched and completely absurd as it is) manages to affect the reader, for it's implicit in SM's style that it'll be just fine. Not to mention Bella and her new vampiric self, coming out just perfect and uber cool (although with a ridiculous power!) her human traits completely gone and forgotten. And Charlie? Seriously, when did the lobotomy happen?! I must've missed the chapter (or maybe it'll come out in the outtakes!). There's no tension in this book, no drama (well ok we probably had enough of that in the previous books, but still), no pathos, no danger, no sacrifice... nothing! Even the supposedly mortal battle with the Volturi is incredibly boring and never ending... And honestly, how on earth can you call the last chapter "The happily ever after"?! Not to mention Renesmee Carlie. PLEASE. TW and NM are amazing books. Eclipse was sort of ok... BD is... yes, an EPIC FAIL!!!

Worst character development (and character!?) goes to Bella. If begging for sex at every spare moment (and agreeing to remain human for another few years---because wow, the sex is great) didn't set women back another forty years, then the sudden transformation of a clumsy, immature, whiny teen who n ... Worst character development (and character!?) goes to Bella. If begging for sex at every spare moment (and agreeing to remain human for another few years---because wow, the sex is great) didn't set women back another forty years, then the sudden transformation of a clumsy, immature, whiny teen who needs protecting into a protective, motherly figure at the moment of the knowledge of her pregnancy will definitely get there. And of course, the vomit inducing ending, where everyone gets what they want, Bella is perfect, and so is her baby.
